CalMAN is color calibration software for high definition televisions and other video displays. CalMAN has the powerful features needed by professional calibrators, but also easy-to-use wizards that walk first-time calibrators through the process.

CalMAN covers both ends of the spectrum of users from novice to experts. It has wizards that take the non-expert users through the calibration process so that HDTV monitors display accurate colors. Professional users have access to features that fine tune the calibration process.

The process essentially consists of feeding standard patterns to the display unit and measuring the color output generated by the display unit. For this purpose the program supports a range of standard inputs including DVD, video processors and software generators including a generator by the publisher of the software. For measurements the application can support tri-stimulus colorimeters and spectrometers.

Measurement automation in CalMAN can integrate with most third-party software and hardware. It can thus control directly the test patterns in popular video processors. Entire calibration runs can be automated, often taking a complete set of grayscale measurements in well under two minutes.

CalMAN’s Calibration Optimization and Reporting Environment (CORE) engine uses 64-bit double-precision floating point math for calculation accuracy. The CORE engine includes advanced matrix operations and statistical techniques so that CalMAN users do not suffer from errors and inaccuracies caused by unnecessary rounding of critical input variables or by the use of inappropriate or inefficient estimation models.

Cons: This would typically be a manufacturing operation, no individual user is likely to be able to organize the colorimeter and the video source etc. Small businesses working as service centers can use this application though.
